Menai Strait Embers

from £30.00

Standing on the banks of the Menai Strait facing north towards Anglesey, I had witnessed a spectacular sunset of burning orange and red. There is often a temptation in sunset photography to focus on the earlier parts when the sun is still present and the whole sky is lit up, but there can be much to savour in the final fading moments when the sun has completely dipped behind the horizon.

In Menai Strait Embers I used a long exposure to smooth the waters of the river and the dark clouds blanketing the twilight. Smoothing out these textures allowed me to emphasise the density of the sky and the body of water compressing the dying embers of the sun. Seiont Embers is a stunning and dramatic piece of landscape art that offers a unique and starkly contrasting style of sunset photography.
