Doge's Palace

from £30.00

As one of the most iconic buildings in Venice, the Doge’s Palace is a tourist hotspot with thousands flocking daily to see its famous domed arches and impressive gothic architecture.

In the early hours of sunrise, I photographed these two carnival actors, strolling arm in arm beneath the cool deserted archways. Stopping to observe the rising sun, the rays illuminated their white porcelain masks and added a burst of vibrant colour from their regal velvet robes. Positioned off-centre, the depth and scale of the corridor stretches behind them, waiting to be filled with the day’s visitors.
