Tombstone
The town of Tombstone, Arizona has been preserved and styled in the fashion of its Wild West history, and is a beacon for tourists visiting the US. During my time in the state of Arizona, I travelled to Tombstone to experience this classic gunslinger’s town, where every day the infamous O.K. Corral gunfight is re-enacted.
Looking beyond any tourism gimmicks, what fascinated me was the traditional architecture, such as these long wooden boardwalks. I knew there was the potential to capture the depth of this historic high street and I waited until the walkways were largely free of people, save for the gentleman seated on the bench. His appearance perfectly matches the aesthetics of Tombstone that blend old with new, and traditional with modern. Lots of small details bring this scene together - the long sloping Stetson hat, aviator shades and lustrous beard, along with the instantly recognisable Wild West signage and typeface.
Tombstone captures many of the quintessential elements of Wild West America and pairs beautifully with a birch wood frame.
