The Hidden Hut
While I was exploring Hodge Close Quarry in the Lake District, I spotted this small opening with a stone outbuilding tucked into the treeline. The trees create a natural framing for the hut with its peaked roof which draws the eye to the centre of the scene.
Walking around the quarry, you see slate pieces scattered all about and these blended nicely with the stone building and dappled bark of the tree trunks. The low sun was directly hitting the leaves of the trees creating a subtle contrast between the warm golden foliage and cool grey stone that form the key colour palettes of the shot.
