Loughrigg Tarn

from £30.00

Exploring Loughrigg Tarn on a beautifully sunny autumn morning, I was interested to capture its different textures. I hoped to get a combination of rough and smooth within my photograph, the calm waters of the lake itself being a great starting point for the latter.

An old oak tree at the near end of the lake caught my eye, with contrasting dark and light cascading down its trunk and branches. This would be my rough, as well as an old beaten-up fence that ran into the tarn. To complete the balance of texture, I used a neutral density filter to smooth out the movement in the sky.
