Derwentwater Jetty

from £30.00

After enjoying a day in the town of Keswick, I took a short walk down to the edge of Derwentwater for the golden hour. It had been an overcast day and I was keen to see if I could find a unique shot by the water.

Not too far into my walk, I came across a couple of jetties. With the tourist boats still out on the broad waters of the lake, the more aged of the two jetties was deserted. I had plenty of time to capture the emptiness of this walkway, looking out onto the calm water.

Using a neutral density filter to slow the exposure time, the lake and the clouds lost all definition. This allowed the harshness of the jetty and its wooden supports to take centre stage.
