Catbells Above the Clouds
Having hiked up Catbells in the early hours, I was able to capture the unfurling morning conditions of the Lake District from above the cloud line.
Although conditions seemed broadly overcast, I could sense a break in the clouds beginning to form. Using a neutral density filter I set up a long exposure to capture the shifting clouds which produced this deep, dramatic sky breaking over the distant mountains on the other side of Derwentwater.
The filter was able to pick up the soft ethereal lowland clouds drifting around Catbells itself, and the two elements of high and low cloud naturally frame the glassy lake and mountain view.
Catbells Above the Clouds comprises multiple elements of land, cloud, and lake to form a beautiful and dynamic landscape print.
