Hayle Harbour One

from £100.00

Of all the beaches I am familiar with, none of them have such a dramatic change in the tide as Hayle Beach. At low tide, it can feel like a trek across the desert in search of water!

These three small ships had been in the mouth of Hayle River for a long time, and I always had had it in my mind that these would make a great subject for a photograph.

I had to wait for the height of summer, so that the sunset would provide a dramatic backdrop for these well worn ships, Although the tide was low, the river was still flowing, so I got as close as I could to the boats, allowing the water up to my knees. With a long exposure I was able to smooth out the surface of the water, framing the boats and the harbour wall in a beautiful golden light.
